SAFARI ANIMAL PRINTS

Students LOVED creating animal prints with their Safari animals + this INCREDIBLE, easy to clean sensory sand.

We spent a week learning about the African savannah, the BIG 5, characteristics of mammals, and much more. Safari week was filled with WILD fun!

“This week was SO FASCINATING!” - camper

SENSORY ANIMAL PRINTS

Materials Needed:

- African Animals (amazon link)

- Mad Matter (amazon link)

- popsicle sticks

I put our campers into groups of 3-4 students. Each student was given an animal, small container (link) of Mad Matter, and a handful of popsicle sticks.

We learned about animal tracks and footprints earlier in the week, so we referred to those manipulatives, and I modeled how to create tracks in the Mad Matter with the play animals.

Then, students were given time to create, explore and build with their materials. I could overhear them talking about the characteristics of the prints and trying to match a friend's tracks to the correct animal. It was so fun!
