PATTERN BLOCK SAFARI MATS
Materials Needed:
- Wood Pattern Blocks (amazon link) OR Plastic Pattern Blocks (amazon link)
- Printable Animal Mats (pdf link)
- erasable markers (amazon link)
- mini erasers (link)
The printable includes 7 different animals. I printed off two sets for our class. Each table group got 4-5 different animals to share and trade with their classmates.
Before students jumped into building their safari pattern block animals we reviewed the shape names and colors of our pattern blocks. Students identified trapezoids, hexagons, etc and pointed to them on their mats.
Students also had erase-able markers and erasers on their tables to check off their shapes as they used them to build. Student built 2+ animals and then used the pattern blocks for free build time. They loved it!
